Byron Bay School of Henna was started by Oriel Paterson who has over 16 years experience as a henna artist and owner of Henna Harem in Byron Bay.
Working with Ilona Harker, who has 7 years experience as a henna artist, the team will teach the fundamentals of henna paste from mixing the natural plant, all the way to design construction and history.
Each work shop is 2 1/2 hours and all equipment is provided.
It’s a fun and relaxed workshop that honours the cultural significance of henna in a modern, safe environment.

Like an opium den of self indulgence, people come to the Henna Harem to experiment, to mark, to symbolise and celebrate. They wait, they stay, they laugh and then leave with a beautiful stain, a strong memory and a few new friends.
After years earning its endearing side name of “splendour in the mud”, this years epic event looks set for clear skies.
This year we’ll be hanging out in the badass back corner of the festival near the bonfire, the drive-in and the MixUp Stage.

Once again, a sold-out event in its Byron Bay homeland, Splendour In The Grass is set to be a blast.
A little nurturing and recovery time out where crystal-chandeliers, drapes, cushions, flowers and gallery lights give a sense of lush and decadence. Relax while being adorned.

The markets are now located in Byron’s town centre, focused around the railway area. Henna Harem is found under a big old melaleuca tree next to the railway line – pretty much in line with the Northern Hotel but behind Jonson St – accessed by the graffiti walkway. Look for the little caravan!
The markets spread along part of the main street and all the way behind the station and grassy railway line – it’s a great space to explore.
